Humans
Humans are the most contradictory species of the six living in the Universe. Despite their weaknesses, on the whole they are one of the strongest species. Humans make up for their innate weaknesses with knowledge, commerce, diplomacy and even violence.
Humans come originally from Earth, and they still have a strong emotional link to their home planet. Being a nostalgic species, their being locked into the Ascon Universe is particularly hard for them to bear. Their nostalgia towards Earth compels them to continuously seek an escape.
The human flavor
In general humans have few sense organs, and the ones they have are weak. They are physically vulnerable, though aggressive. They are an incredibly creative species, but they remain fixated on materialism. They are both mistrustful and untrustworthy. Humans do not have a central religion, and they are not considered a deeply faith-oriented species. The ancient, earthly religions have broken down and disappeared in the last thousand years. New religions emerge, but they expire quickly.
…Human society is totally centralized, and their policy is standard and bureaucratic…
Humanity is driven by a thirst for power and an inexplicable, ancient fear of extinction. This is the reason behind its aggressive expansion in space. In a contradictory manner they treat their resources wastefully even as the consequences make their environment less habitable and their raw material sources grow closer to total exhaustion. Human society is totally centralized, and their policy is standard and bureaucratic. They are aggressive both in war and in diplomacy. Shakedowns, deception, trickery, and murder have long been the tools for achieving desired positions.
The colonizer
The Human species was almost the last one to initiate space research. Still, it has caught up thanks to its aggressive expansion policy. Humans soon colonized their sector of the galaxy, first building a military foothold in the occupied area, then developing strong defenses and establishing colonies.
… do the greatest possible destruction in the least possible time…
Humans mix and cross-germinate technologies with endless creativity. Their technology and knowledge are supremely developed. They make powerful and efficient war machines capable of hugely destructive force. The central point of their tactical approach to war is to do the greatest possible destruction in the least possible time. Humans are aggressive not only in war but also in diplomacy which is why their diplomats are not very popular.
In short, despite their small numbers and their weaknesses, they are one of the most dominant species in the Universe.
