Zyk ships

Though the Zyk are highly adaptable and the most ancient among the six species, they are also the most technologically undeveloped species in the Universe. Their ships were replaced in the framework of the Imperial Bureau system, but two of their smallest ships are still built exclusively of organic materials and living creatures. These insects function as biological weapons capable of generating weaponized viruses even in course of battle.

The Zyk have started an extensive research and development program that has resulted in new technology used in their larger ships, technologies such as the photon ray-projector and narion weapon used in their Scorpion. Zyk tactics are based on strength in numbers; their units are relatively inexpensive, but their effectiveness depends on large numbers used simultaneously. Defensively, their organic armor is believed to be second to none.
